VETERAN country singer Brendan Quinn is keeping it in the family as it were. He is set to team up with other family members for a brand new concert show.

Brendan has brought together his elder sister Philomena, who retired from performing some years ago, his son James who is making a big name for himself right now, his brother Sean who played with Brendan in America and Canada and eldest son Stephen who has been playing drums with Henry McCullough, Arty McGlyynn and lots of other top stars

‘We did a charity show last year for our local parish and it went so well that we have decided to take the show on the road. My sister Philomena who gave up singing professionally some years ago will be performing all her old hits and her and I will sing some duets together, and of course my youngest son James will be doing his thing as well. My brother Sean is a very good singer/guitarist in his own right, so he will have a lot of input into the show, and of course my eldest son Stephen will keep it all together on drums. We are all looking forward to getting out on the road and doing these shows’ Says Brendan

The Quinn family have steeped in music for years with Philomena taking a leading role in the local pantomimes and theatrical productions in Magherafelt in the Sixties. In fact it was Philomena’s singing who inspired Brendan to get into music, he got himself a guitar and set about practicing his chords and exercising his singing voice. As a young boy he used to follow his sister around the house singing all the hit songs of the day.

Most of the Quinn family had good singing voices, sisters Mary and Bridget sang with some friends in a folk group called ‘The John B Four’ and deceased brother David who also played drums, formed a showband along with Brendan called ‘The Breakaways’. Younger members of the family, Sean, Kieran and Mairead also sang, in fact Mairead has sung backing vocals on some of Brendan’s albums.

The Family Band have also released a new CD ‘The Brendan Quinn Family Band’ which is receiving lots of airplay all over Ireland and the UK

The Brendan Quinn Family concert show will be appearing in theatres all over Ireland. The band have been booked to appear at Ballymoney Town Hall on March 21. More details later.
