The Pogues hit has re-entered the official Christmas Singles Chart Top 20 every year for the past number of years and punters have been backing it to reach No.1 for the first time.

BoyleSports were forced to slash The Pogues reaching new territory on December 25th by cutting the odds into 20/1 from 33/1 as fans of the 1987 song featuring Kirsty MacColl believe it could make it all the way to the top this year.

Mariah Carey will battle it out with The Pogues as ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ is another festive hit that has never topped the UK charts. Carey is set to re-release her 1994 festive favourite for it’s 25th anniversary with the odds on it reaching No.1 trimmed into 8/1 from 12/1.

Lewis Capaldi became the first Scottish solo artist to get to No.1 in the US in nearly forty years as ‘Someone You Loved’ knocked Lizzo’s ‘Truth Hurts’ from it’s number one spot. Announcing the news, Capaldi shared photos on social media showing his face painted with the Stars and Stripes and wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the words: “Lewis Capaldi - America’s Sweetheart”.

The Glasgow-born singer is rumoured to be providing the music for the 2019 John Lewis Christmas advert and is now 5/1 from 8/1 to have his first UK Christmas No.1.
