Strong displays from East Coast’s Hewitt and Spencer

Matthew Hewitt, kicked off this week’s action for East Coast Athletic Club on Thursday, May 8 with a brilliant run at the Slieve Binnian Hill and Dale race. Matthew covered the tough two-mile uphill only route in 26:21 (14th place).

Further afield East Coast AC was represented at the ‘Saddleback Fred Whitton Challenge’ in the Lake District on Sunday. Dan Spencer completed the gruelling 112-mile Sportive challenge ride around the scenic but very hilly course in a time of 7:33.09.

On Saturday East Coast members again showed a strong presence at the increasingly popular Larne parkrun. This weekend, to add to the fun, participants were encouraged to dress in pink for the Giro d’Italia.

James Brown was the first of the East Coast athletes home, finishing the Time Trial in second spot (17:54). Daniel Girvin took third in 19:10 - a new event PB.
