BALLYCASTLE United players and officials celebrated in style when they toasted a magnificent season in the Coleraine and District League and manager Lee Watterson said: “This is the beginning of something big in Ballycastle football”.
The club won the league as well as the Steel and Sons Shield ending a 15-year long wait for glory.
Lee Watterson spoke of his pride at the club’s success. He said: “In my first year in management it has been a dream come true to play and also manage my home town team to glory not once but twice this season.
“It makes it easier when you have the backing of Mr Football in Ballycastle Billy Watson chairman of the club, secretary Paul Fitzpatrick (fitzy) and my eyes and ears on the side line Daniel Mooney assistant manager.
“This is the beginning of something big in Ballycastle football for a long long time, the best talent I have ever seen. The strong youth coming through not only in the senior team but now with our junior football clubs/teams in Ballycastle, given time higher league clubs are going to come knocking on our door for our players’.
