Scott full of praise for Glebe players

GLEBE Rangers boss Gareth Scott has praised the effort of his players after Saturday's goal-laden draw with Ballyclare Comrades.

The sides shared a point apiece following a six goal thriller at the Riada Stadium, with Scott over the moon with the desire shown by the hosts.

"I am feeling extremely positive, I've a great group of players to work with at Glebe Rangers," he told Times Sport afterwards.

"I've been delighted with how they have been applying themselves.

"Since the Nortel disappointment the application has been of the highest quality and the response has been superb."

Glebe found the net three times on Saturday, racing into a 3-1 lead courtesy of goals from Owen Moody, Peter Kennoway and Neil McVicker.

But defensive lapses from set-pieces ultimately cost Glebe all three points.

Glebe were also reduced to 10 men when Ryan Marks was given his marching orders on the hour mark.

Despite being a man down, a dogged performance from Scott's charges saw them hold on for a share of the spoils.

"Since our wee downturn in form the players have showed me a commitment in training and a hunger as a group to turn things around," said Scott.

"The reality is it is up to me to show leadership and give them clear instructions of what we are looking for.

"From Saturday I can take huge positives from the way we went forward, the work rate and our overall play. I thought they were fantastic. They can take a lot of confidence from the game as I think Ballyclare are a decent side."

He added: "There is no team in this league or any other for that matter who apply themselves as hard as the players at Glebe Rangers."

Glebe face Sport and Leisure this Saturday in the WKD Core Intermediate Cup.

"The big emphasis is on winning," said Scott.

"We are not thinking of anything else other than getting the result and it will be all about preparation on Tuesday and Thursday ahead of the game."
