Rockers a step closer to title

Andy Arbuthnot’s Rockers took another massive step towards the Carrick and District League title as they brushed aside a potentially tricky challenge from stablemates The Scorpions by an impressive 10-4 margin. The Rockers have now amassed a frame difference of 200 for and 80 against - a fantastic average of 10-4 per game. They now need 19 points from their remaining eight games to become 2012-13 Champions.

Spartans kept their outside hopes alive with a 13-1 win over The Warriors. Michael Wilson was best for the hosts with a hat-trick, while Matt Barr notched up the solitary frame for Warriors.

Harry Warwick’s Greenisland also won again in their derby match against Michael Lowry’s Barbarians. Greenisland are in third as we go in to the home straight.

Hugh McMurtry’s Cowboys put in probably their best performance of the season when they thumped high-flying Castle 10-4 in the Brown Cow Inn. There were hat-tricks for Peter McCaffrey and Cowboys’ captain, Hugh McMurtry.

MSC Trojans leapfrog stablemates Hit Man & Her after a solid 9-5 win over Eastway. They led narrowly 4-3 at the half-time interval, but pulled away in the second session to secure the three points with a 9-5 win. Jonny Mackay and Kyle Kirkwood both scored two out of two, but best on the night was Mark Greer for Eastway with a fine hat-trick.

Alpha won 8-6 at home to Teddy Bears to move off the bottom of the table. They took both sessions 4-3 with Angie Acheson winning the all-important 14th frame to leapfrog Jolly Beggar who had a 0-14 reverse to Whitehead Trojans.
