Rangers are next on agenda for Limavady

LIMAVADY United have no fixture this weekend and their next game will be against Carrick Rangers next Tuesday, January 26.

This recently re-arranged game will have a 7.45pm kick-off as Carrick will be playing in the Intermediate Cup this Saturday.

The clubs have previously met twice this season in the second round of the Co-operative Insurance cup. The first leg at Taylors Avenue ended with a one goal victory for the Roesiders.

The second leg was a much more entertaining game with United winning by six goals to two, Trevor Hutchinson and Paul Owens both grabbed braces with Martin McNutt and Vincent Sweeney grabbing the other goals.

Carrick are currently third in the Ladbrokes.com Championship two points behind United but having played a game more.

They have scored eighteen goals in the league, six less than United but have conceded two less in total of twelve in their eleven league games.

Rangers had a very encouraging result in their last fixture when they drew one all with Premier Division Portadown in the JJB Irish Cup.

Roesiders supremo Oran Kearney is cautious that the players don't expect it to be an easy game after the result at the Showgrounds earlier in the season.

"Obviously it will be a different game from the one earlier on in the season and we have to treat it as such," said Kearney.

"While it would be nice to have a similar result I don't expect it to be as free scoring as that game was at all.

"We have certainly tightened up at the back and I know that despite that result Carrick are mean defensively as well.

"They will be on a high after the good result at the weekend, even though they have a game in between in the Intermediate Cup.

"It's not ideal that we have a break between the Holywood game and this one but that's beyond our control. We just have to get on with it.

"We will be preparing as we always do and I'm confident that if we play the way we can do then we will get the right result," said Kearney.

Going into the game it is expected that Peter Spratt will be missing for this game but should return for the following week.
