Old bird season moves from Tullamore to Mullingar

Last weekend saw the start of the old bird season and due to the weather conditions the NIPA Committee at their meeting earlier in the week decided to change from Tullamore to Mullingar some 20 miles shorter.

What a start it was for lofts in the Coleraine area, PO Jimmy McSeveney reported.

T and J McDonald won NIPA Open from Mullingar with a yearling roundabout Dark Cheq hen. Trevor and Jennifer would like to thank A and R McAuley for giving these lines to race. Father is a Van den Brande who was a winner on the road. The mother is a Sticker Donkers who has a first and second from Rosscarbery.

Leslie Madden won second open and 1st Section A with a yearling widowhood cock. This cock is the nest mate to Leslie’s open winner from last year. This is one of his top secret lines he crossed into his Lambrect’s.
