New Agivey Cycling Club set up in Garvagh

A new cycling club is taking its first fledgling steps into the increasingly popular sport of road cycling.

Based in the Garvagh area, the club takes its name after the Agivey River that flows through the town.

The club was formed after a group of enthusiastic local cyclists took part in the Giro di Glen event on 28th September, 2014. An inaugural committee was formed on 13 November, 2014 and the reality of establishing a new club bore fruit.

The club is very keen to attract anyone with an interest in leisure cycling from Garvagh and all the surrounding areas.

The Agivey Cycling Club is open to everyone and club runs will be taking place every week and weekend throughout 2015.

A full range of abilities will be catered for with groups for cyclist with different abilities will be led by an experienced cyclist on every club run.

The club will be attending as many local sportive events as possible and will be running their own event from Garvagh in May.

Agivey Cycling Club are holding an information and registration night on 26th February from 8pm to 9.30pm in Jim Watt Sports Centre, Garvagh and concurrently from 8pm to 9.30pm in Glenullin Community Centre.

An annual membership fee of £20 will be collected from those who would like to join the club on the night.
