Saturday 8th September
Robert McKinney brought Gracehill to its knees to win division 1 of the Monthly Medal. With his nascent talent, Robert playing off 6, made the turn 2 under gross, with birdies at the 3rd, 6th & 7th. His excellent play continued on the back 9, with birdies at 15th & 17th to card an impressive level par 72, resulting in a nett 66. Bert Dobbin (14) a shot further back with a nett 67 was 2nd. 3rd place went to Morris Peden (13) with a nett 69. In the division 2 section Stuarty Nicholl (19) scaled the dizzy heights and cast-off the tag of Monthly Medal mediocrity to achieve medal notoriety with a superb nett 68. Evidently maintaining his superior gross score to that of his 11 handicapper playing partner, was the motivation he needed, to start filling up his trophy cabinet! Willy McQuiston playing off 19 was 2nd with a nett 71, while Gordon Willis (20) was 3rd with a nett 72.
Sunday 9th September: Kenny McMullan annihilated the field on Sunday with a record-breaking 47pts. This former 21 handicapper had nothing worse than a boggy on his card all day and with 6 pars and a birdie two at the 11th nothing was going to break this golfers concentration as he took the chequered flag. In 2nd place a mere 9pts behind with 38pts was Steven Bell playing off 4. Steven produced a near flawless round only dropping two shots. 3rd place also on 38pts was 20 handicapper Russell McKessick. Darren Lamont won the gross prize with a 78.
