Dunloy win Shield final

Dunloy 2-6 Randalstown 0-10

Dunloy won the Shield final, which preceded the Senior decider, when they held off a stern challenge from newly promoted Tir na nOg Randalstown in another thrilling contest.

Two first-half goals from Sinead Martin and Shannon Woulaghan when playing into the breeze gave Dunloy a firm foothold in the game, but Randaltown edged their way back into the game with two pointed frees from county star Michaela Convery and one from play by Bernadette Letters to trail by just one at the break (2-1 to 0-6).

The second-half turned into a war of attrition as two highly committed teams gave their all in search of victory. Michael Convery kept Randalstown in touch but Dunloy had that little bit extra up front and points from Sinead Martin, Aileen Martin, Danielle Quinn and Michaela Elliott kept their noses in front at the end.

Dunloy Sinead Martin 1-1, Shannon Woulahan 1-0, Aileen Martin 0-2, Julianne McLean 0-1, Danielle Quinn 0-1, Michaela Elliott 0-1.

Tir Na Og Michaela Convery 0-8, Aimee McAtamney 0-1, Bernadette Letters 0-1.
