Dalriada U-14’s 64 Foyle & L’derry 5

THE under-14’s remain the only Dalriada team unbeaten after a great performance against Foyle and Londonderry. The match ended up at 64-5 to Dalriada.

Not one Dalriada player did anything but play their best. Dalriada played to the strengths in the first half, smashing the Foyle pack up front and then spinning it wide with some well drilled black line moves.

They won most of the Foyle scrums and line outs including their own. That was due to the great work Mr Doherty has been doing with them. Tens tries in all with 7 conversions scored. 6 from Paddy and 1 from Jack Elliott.

The Dalriada ten controlled the game nicely and used the wings well. Tries from Paddy Elliott (3), Scott Gamble (MOTM and 2), Stuart McHugh (2), Thomas Hunter(2) and Dennis Posternak (1).

Dalriada U13 65 Foyle College 5

Last Saturday Dalriada U13 rugby team entertained Foyle College and bounced back from their defeat by Sullivan the previous week, to record an impressive 65 – 5 win.

The Ballymoney boys were slow to start and the visitors enjoyed a period of early pressure. However, gradually Dalriada found their rhythm and scored three times, all from outstanding centre Ross Fallows, the third after a beautiful dummy from full back Curtis Pollock before passing to him.

Dalriada were further ahead after the forwards drove up the blind side before releasing winger Lewis Henry, who showed great pace to secure in the corner. At this stage Dalriada were in complete control of the game and Ross Fallows added another try to his tally before impressive flanker Jack Reid showed great power and strength to crash over the line. Stewart Moore completed the first half scoring with a fine individual try.

The Dalriada team was almost completely changed for the second half such is the strength in depth of the squad. Ross Fallows took his tally of tries to five at the beginning of the half.

Flanker Robert Chestnutt was rewarded for a fine second half performance with a well worked try in the corner. As the game neared the end, Foyle to their credit did exert a period of sustained pressure and scored a good try.

However, Dalriada finished the game in style when Matthew Beggs set off on a weaving run before scoring an excellent try to complete an impressive performance from the young Dalriada team.
