Dalriada School beat Rainey 22-0 to set up Shield semi-final at home to Bangor

Dalriada defeated Rainey to set up a home semi final draw against Bangor in the Subsidiary Shield on March 8.

Dalriada dictated the pace of the game throughout this match against Rainey with Timmy Emerson’s game management once again being the key factor. Timmy’s maturity and control shone throughout the whole game, and this was most certainly the difference between the two sides.

The Dalriada pack was also key to the teams success as once again they laid a solid platform for their backs from their well organised set piece and hard work ethic throughout in the contact area.

Timmy Emerson scored a penalty from another Rainey infringement at the break down to make the score 3-0. It took Dalriada 60 mins to unlock the Rainey defence through a quick penalty from Scott Love and a pick and go from Henry Loan to cross over the white wash! 8-0 Dalriada. Man of the match Loan crashed over again from a similar attacking option, with Emerson converting the extras. 15-0 Dalriada.

Once again The Dalriada team controlled possession and territory throughout the game and players such as Robert Hunter, Peter Dunlop, and Michael Finnerty continued to cause threats with ball in hand. Dalriada’s maturity, control and focused mindset over the heated contest really showed what a good team they have become.

The Dalriada team intensity and hunger was continually being shown again and again, with Loan making endless tackles and turnovers at the contact Area.

The backrow of Malcomson,McKeeman, and Loan where outstanding. Dalriada tried to wear down the Rainey defence and finally the Dalriada number 8 Scott Malcomson took a good line of the the scrum half Matthew Steele to go over from 10 yards. Timmy Emerson converted to end the game 22-0 to Dalriada.
