This Thursday, June 16th, Coleraine town centre will once again become a race circuit as Bann Wheelers Cycling Club host their CRIT Races as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations.
Racing will commence at 6.30pm from Church Street when the A4 riders will set off.
The A2/A3 Race will commence at 7.30pm.
Each race comprises of 30 minutes of racing around a short, tight town circuit heading past the Town Hall, left on to Bridge Street and along Millburn Road.
The race will proceed up Union Street before taking a tight right turn on to Brook Street and eventually turning right back into the town pedestrian area to complete the circuit.
The riders will have the chance to earn points on every fifth lap sprint for the line.
After 30 minutes the riders will race for a further five laps to decide the overall winner of the race.
The event is kindly sponsored by Trust Ford, Gibson Financial Planning Limited and Macaulay Wray Solicitors.
With the success of the CRIT Race in 2014 this improved formula should prove to be an exciting spectator event.
The event two years ago took place three days before the much anticipated Giro D’Italia passed through the Borough . It was the perfect warm up for the major cycling event with a large crowd coming out to cheer on the cyclists as they made their way round the town centre of Coleraine.
Thursday night’s event is expected to draw a large crowd.
