Liscolman powerlifter makes history

71-YEAR-OLD Liscolman man Dessie Scott from Ballymoney Powerlifting Club made history at
the British Championships by becoming the first lifter to win both the Classic (Unequipped) and
the Equipped titles on consecutive days.

Lifting in the 74 Kilo Class he made a perfect nine out of nine attempts in both events, again a first, to win for the third successive year.

Dessie has been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Championships in Florida and the European Championships in Luxembourg.

Earlier in the year he won the N.I. Bench Press title breaking records three times and the N.I. Dead Lift title breaking two N.I. records.

Dessie trains at Gerry’s Gym in Coleraine and is coached by Gerry McLaughlin.
