Kerr relieved to see players prove it
Head coach James Kerr knew Banbury Bulls had to deliver sooner rather than later and they did just that at Old Centralians.
Bulls chalked up their second South West One East success on Saturday and both have come against teams who were playing two divisions higher than Kerr’s boys last season.
Bulls beat Old Centralians 33-12 and Kerr said: “Both our wins have come against teams who were playing at national league level before being relegated.
“I was always confident we would get back to winning ways but there are only so many weeks you can keep saying that.
“We had to prove it to ourselves and we did. We’ve show we can compete at this level but I know we will still lose more games.
“They had to sustain their first half tempo in the second half and that’s something we have not done in some games, like against Grove and Newbury. But they learned the lessons from those games and this time they delivered.
“The game was in the balance at halftime but we made a really strong start to the second half for the first 20 minutes and scored some quick tries. We had to defend in depth at the end, we didn’t sit back we were pushed back because Old Centralians had so much pressure.
“The players wanted to celebrate at the end of the game but they were exhausted because they had been battered.”
