Intermediate series wide open

THE 2010 Intermediate Championship series looks as wide open as ever following the recent draw but three teams seem to lead the pack.

New arrivals Tr na ng, local side Sarsfields and South Armagh’s Cullaville look to be the favourites but Madden and 2009 beaten finalists Keady may not be too far away.

Tr na ng, who have dropped down from the Senior Championship, have been handed a bye this season along with St Paul’s. Both sides will join at the second stage following the first round games.

St Peter’s would be fancied to overcome An Port Mr, but Wolfe Tones would need to be at their best to secure victory over Madden.

Sarsfields will contest their first game against last year’s Junior Champions Shane O’Neill’s but the Highmoss side should come through having gained experience in the first division.

In the Junior series, ire g will be looking for a sustained run and will have a tough start against South Armagh’s Dorsey Emmets in the first round.

The Pinebank side would be among the main competitors for Junior honours this season and should improve with experience in the third division.
