INF B defeat team-mates in final of league’s three-a-side competition

THE three-a-side competition took place last week in the Craigavon Darts League at the Celtic Club.

And it was the INF B team of Marty Murray, Lee Culbert and Leo Genesi who won through to take the title after a great night of darts.

They defeated their own A team of Andy McConnon, Marty Crossan and Terry Morrow in the final.

Twenty three teams turned up to compete but the Forester lads continued their impressive league form to meet each other in the final.

The eventual winners overcame Stables , Stables F , Clann Eireann A and the Drumgor A trio of Marty Craig, Shane Lennon and Stevie Duff to meet their team-mates who had beaten the Stables A, Eire Og A and Celtic C team in the semis.

It was Leo Genesi, who was in superb form, who put the B team one up in the final after winning the individuals 2-0 against Terry Morrow, hitting no less than three 100 plus scores and three 140s to leave the doubles pairing of Marty Murray and Lee Culbert to face former Antrim pairs champions Andy McConnon and Marty Crossan.

The first two legs were shared and with the INF A boys sitting on double top it looked like it was going all the way to the three man leg of 701 to decide the title.

But Marty Murray had different ideas hitting treble 20, single 20 and the bull for a brilliant 130 check out to win it for his team, much to the delight and despair of his fellow INF team-mates.

On Saturday Shane Lennon won his second out of the three qualifying events in the Drumgor Open and again he beat Geoff Wilson in the final, this time 4-0.

Geoff had made the final after beating the in form Marty Murray 4-3 who had earlier beat the previous week’s qualifier winner Eddie Donnelly 4-0 in the quarters with some great darts which included two 14 dart legs and two legs of 18 darts.

Shane beat Willie Chambers 4-1 in his semi-final.

Qualifier four takes place this Saturday at 2pm with registration at 1.30pm.
