Strong numbers still coming out at Roe Park
First up was a Club Stableford on Thursday with a big turnout despite the chilly weather.
Eamon Butcher and Desmond McGlinchey both recorded fine rounds, scoring 39 points each.

Hide AdEamon took the win thanks to the count back rule via a better back nine score of 21 points to Desmonds 19 points.
His round was a bit of a mixed bag with the highlights being a birdie at the tough par 3 third hole and finishing the round with pars at the last 3 holes.
The very likeable Coach House chef is certainly enjoying his golf at the moment having only taken up the sport properly a little over a year ago.
Desmond had his chances but will rue a few bad shots at the tough 10th hole which ended in a double bogey and ultimately meant he had to settle for second place.
Third place went to Gareth Jones who scored 38 points.

Hide AdSaturday saw a Club Stableford with Derek Powell recording his best round of the year, scoring 43 points to take the victory.
A birdie at the first hole set the tone for the rest of his round as he made the turn with 22 points for the first nine holes.
Derek managed to keep it going with 21 points for the back nine. An excellent round included 3 birdies, 7 pars and 8 bogeys.
A great effort indeed and a deserved win especially for someone who struggles to “keep it between the hedges” so to speak.

Hide AdSecond place was a fight between Stevie Hamill and Trevor Thompson with both scoring an excellent 41 points.
It was Stevie who eventually took the runner-up spot thanks to a better back 9 score of 22 points.
A bit of bad luck at the twelfth hole cost Trevor to ding the hole leaving him with a bit of work to do.
He finished with 20 points for the back nine and ultimately third place.

Hide AdAnother Club Stableford on Sunday saw Bryan Donaghy, Martin Rafferty and Colin Harkin all score 42 points. Bryan had the best back nine, scoring 22 points to take the victory on count back.
A solid back nine was the key for Bryan as he recorded 5 pars and 4 bogeys. Martin and Colin both had 21 points for the back nine but it was a birdie at the 16th hole for Martin which made the difference, giving him the runner-up spot.
The Turkey & Bottle series of competitions continues as usual this week with a Club Stableford on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
