Peter, Carmel, Felix and Bernie win One-Club event

The winners of the One Club Competition were Felix and Bernie Duffy, Carmel and Peter Hillen.

Firstly, the Belfast and District team went out to play against Ballyclare. The Senior Cowdy team playing County Armagh followed this.

Then, to crown it all, there was a one-club event followed by a barbeque and music.

The one–club game was a lot of fun.

There were four players on a team and they each carried one club.

They took it in turn to play their shots. The sight of someone hitting off the tee with a putter or trying to get out of a bunker with a driver was hilarious.

But there is always a team who can get around with few mistakes.

That team was Peter and Carmel Hillen along with Felix and Bernie Duffy. They won with a nett 46.5.

The runners-up were Rita and Matthew Downey along with Joy and Bill Gowdy. They had a nett 48.75.

It was great craic, as they say, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. That’s how it should be.
