Noeleen’s Lady Captain’s Day held at Rockmount GC

Friday August 10 was Lady Captain, Noeleen Houston’s, Lady Captains Day at Rockmount Golf Club.

On this special day Noeleen was blessed with warm sunny weather and a slight breeze. The competition was well supported by Rockmount members, invited guests and by the Rockmount Gents who played for the Lady Captain’s Gents prize.

EXPERIENCE

The golf was followed by dinner, the Lady Captains address, the prize presentation and some lively entertainment making the whole day a memorable experience for Noeleen.

In first place was Noreen Mikhael with 38 points beating Lizzy Lawther into second place on ount-back. The gross went to Jo Donaldson and third place with 36 points went to Deirdre Bones. Leone Power was best on the front nine and Anne Wynn was best on the back nine. he longest drive was won by Andrea Watson and the nearest the pin by Leone Power.

The Lady Captains Gents prize was won by Colin Paul, Davey McClure was second, the longest drive went to Pete Coffey and the nearest the pin to Jimmy Robinson.

CHALLENGE CUP

On Sunday 12 August Rockmount Golf Clubs Ladies Challenge Cup team travelled to Roe Park Golf Club to play Portstewart Golf Club in the semi-final of the competition.

The Challenge Cup matches are a single match played at a neutral venue.

Team Captain Norma Devenny kept faith with a number of players that had served her faithfully on the road to the semifinal, Lady Captain Noeleen Houston, Noreen O’Hare, Moya Sloan, Karen Sloan and Anne McShane. After a slow start the Rockmount Ladies started to build a lead over their Portstewart opponents, Noreen O’Hare, Moya Sloan and Karen Sloan soon posted wins.

DECIDED

Lady Captain Noeleen Houston and Anne McShane were called in with the match result already decided, at the time Lady Captain Noeleen was two holes up and heading towards another win.
