Low scores the order of the day at Dunmurry

The Autumn Medal at Dunmurry Golf Club on Saturday produced excellent scores in all three divisions.

In Division One (0-10), Mark McGrath (10) recovered from a disastrous start dropping six shots on the first three holes. After that, he completed the last 15 holes in level par, dropping shots at the 11th and 12th but birdies at 14th and 18th clinched him victory with a 76 and a nett 66.

Mark beat Tony Higginson (10) who also returned a nett 66, who also had a triple bogey six on the short par three seventh. Third was Peter Russell (6) who returned an excellent 74 for a nett 68. Peter had an excellent back nine of eight pars and one birdie at the 11th.

In Division Two, Ian Halliday (16) was the clear winner returning a nett 66. Second was Bill Collins (14) who edged out C. McKenna (14) on countback after both returned nett 67s.

In Division Three, Tony McDermott (20) returned a nett 69 to win by one from Walter Gibson (22) and Billy Blackstock (21) who both returned nett 70s to finish second and third respectively.

The gross prize was won by D. McLachlan (scr) who went round in level par 70 thanks to a great back nine of 32 with birdies at 11th, 14th, 16th and 17th.
