Kennedy is the star of the show

THE hugely successful Ronnie Parke Memorial Charity Open, in aid of Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke, took place at Faughan Valley, on Sunday and popular member Raymond Kennedy was the star of the show.

Mr Kennedy, who was a very good friend of Ronnie, secured the front nine when the 22 handicapper scored 21 points, while David Kilgore (19) won the back nine after he scored 21 points.

The overall winner was Lee O'Connor (11), who scored an impressive 40 points in awful windy weather conditions, second was John Kelly (10) who finished with 38 points and Cathal McDermott (16) with 37 points was third.

Big hitting Berard Kelly (4) won the gross prize after he finished with 77 gross points.

The monthly medal stroke competition was claimed by Nigel Craig (17) after he scored 61 points, second was Martin Carlin (16) who finished with 68 points and Barry Reilly (15) with 69 points was third.

While the mid-week open stableford was claimed by Gareth Sayers (14) after he scored 40 points, second was Raymond Kennedy (23) after he scored 37 points and third spot was won by Eddie McColgan (17) who scored 34 points.

Meanwhile the ladies competition, which took place in near perfect conditions last Wednesday went to Kathleen Cook (28) after she scored 39 points.

In second spot was Margaret Armstrong (23) who finished with 36 points and Catherine O'Neill (20) was third after she scored 34 points and Denise Callan (21) with 32 points was fourth.
