It’s a White-wash for winner Jim as Felix bags a hole-in-one at the third

Last Saturday proved to be a testing day for over 200 golfers who took part in the PGA Tankard at Dunmurry Golf Club due to the strong swirling winds and heavy showers.

However, 13 handicapper Jim White mastered the conditions by returning an excellent 41 points to be two clear of the rest of the field.

Jim got off to a flying start with two birdies after three holes, which helped him to 21 points on the front nine.

He followed it up with a strong finish recording three pars in the last three holes for 20 points on the back nine and overall victory.

Second place went to early starter Ian Halliday (15) who returned 39 points thanks to an excellent 22 points on a back nine that included a birdie three at the 15th and pars at the 13th, 16th and 18th.

Shane McIlvenny (8) had to settle for third spot after also returning 39 points with only 21 on the back nine. His highlights were birdies on the 11th and 15th holes.

Fourth went to John Wilson (6) who went round in 74 for 38 points.

Fifth and sixth went to Kyle Drury (7) and Eamon McFlynn (14) respectively, both returning 38 points – Kyle clinching fifth with a better last six.

Felix Kieran was the toast in the clubhouse after recording a hole-in-one at the par three third.

Gross prize went to Glen McAuley (+1) who shot a three under par 67. Three birdies at the third, fifth, and seventh and a dropped shot at the sixth saw him out in 33.

On the back nine, he returned eight pars and a single birdie at the 14th.
