First nine gives Conor the edge in monthly medal at Silverwood

The competition on Saturday at Silverwood was the monthly medal and there were some very good scores on the day.

The winner with a net 65 was Conor Haddock who went round the front nine in 40 shots with five pars, three bogeys and one double bogey at the first hole. His back nine included three pars, five single bogeys and one double bogey at the 12th hole for his total of 84 net 65.

In second place with a net 66 was Arron Leathem, he had a front nine of 39 with one birdie at the 8th, four pars three bogeys with one double bogey. His back nine contained only three single bogeys, with all the remaining holes played in par, for a solid round of golf.

In third place was Damien McCready with a net 67, Damien had a front nine of 45 shots with the highlights being two pars with three double bogeys and four single bogeys, his back nine of 43 included five pars, two bogeys holes, two double bogeys for his total of 88 net 67.

The gross prize was won by Thomas Smyth with a one over par 73. Thomas has a front nine of 37 with one birdie at the first hole, one bogey at the 6th hole and one double bogey at the 5th hole, with all the remaining holes played in par. His back nine of 36 included one bogey, a brilliant eagle at the 18th hole and all the remaining holes played in par.

In fourth place was Stephen Lynn with a net 67, his front nine of 42 contained five pars, two single bogeys, one double bogey and a triple bogey. His back nine included six pars, two bogeys and one double bogey.

In fifth place with another net 67 was Sean McStay who had a gross 74 and his front nine contained one birdie, two bogeys with all the other holes played in par for a front of 36, his back nine of 38 contained only one bogey and again all the remaining hole’s played in par for a steady round of golf.

The senior prize was won by Dermot McCabe with a net 68.

Section prizes: 0-12 Neil McAlinden net 67; 13-18 Frank Gallagher net 69; 19-28 Mark Hampton net 68.

On the senior front the latest senior’s league match was held at Kilkee last Thursday, but after last week’s heroic performance, their efforts left a lot to be desired. Their total was the lowest of the 10 participating clubs and now leaves them in the one from bottom spot.
