Colin is clear winner in Seniors

Colin Nash was a clear winner of this April senior event and his score of 41 points was a couple clear of his closest rival. This 11 handicapper was through the opening nine holes with eight pars on his car. A bogey at the eighth was his only blemish. Colin mixed the good with the bad over the final nine holes. While he dropped five strokes on four holes he nevertheless made vital pars at holes ten, twelve, thirteen, fifteen and seventeen. This sufficed to get him over the forty point barrier and ensure him a victory by two points.

Maurice Turnbull popped up again with a score of 39 points and accordingly he secured second place. The 21 handicapper began with an opening par. A run of five consecutive pars in the middle of the round formed the core of his winning round. It all began on the eighth. With numerous net pars strewn in he duly took the runners-up spot.

Third place went to Terry McCrory with his total of 38 points. This 20 handicap golfer had a heady mix from a birdie at the fourth to double bogeys on holes fourteen and fifteen. Par figures at holes ten and seventeen were his other noteworthy scores.

Sixteen handicapper George Kidd nabbed fourth place with the other return of 38 points. Birdies at holes four and ten and pars at holes one, eight and nine were the leading scores of his round.

A tally of 27 gross point helped Joseph Dowey to the gross award. Pars at holes one, two, four, seven and nine were his early successes. A birdie at the tenth was a fine start to the back nine. Further pars came his way at holes twelve, thirteen and fifteen. He concluded his round with pars on the final two holes of play and so reaped the category prize.

Joe McClelland and Paddy McGleenon both returned 37 points and were the last gents under par on the day.

Ray Gregg won the ladies prize with a quality score of 37 points. This 18 handicapper was in fine form with string of pars on her winning card. A run of pars on holes three, four and five were her pivotal scores on the front side. A trio of pars got the back nine under way and she never looked back.
