IN the weekend open stableford competition at Faughan Valley, Aidan O’Connor took first spot with 39 points playing off 22, second place went to 19 handicapper Martin Mailey with 37 points and 13 handicapper Tony P Griffiths took third place with 36 points.

While the club’s Annual Travellers Perpetual Cup competition took place at the weekend and was held this year at Donaghadee and Clandeboye.

Conrad Carlin lifted the trophy for the second year with a accumulated score of 76 points over two cards from three, he was one shot clear of our club Captain Cecil King.

While 13 handicapper Roy Cooke was on top form in the midweek open, carding 41 points, in second place was 3 handicapper James Lindsay with 38 points and in third spot one point behind was David Taylor, with 37 points.

This weekend Faughan Valley will be hosting an Open Strokeplay competition on Saturday, whilst on Sunday the Happy Landing Open takes centre stage, also this Sunday is the start of our irons competition and on Monday the Waterside venue is hosting Captains charity day in aid of Altnagelvin Cardiac Assessment Unit and time sheets will be in operation.

Last Wednesday’s Ladies competition went to Jackie McNulty (30) after she finished with 37 points, second after a break of tie finish went to Ann McGoldrick (27) after she scored 35 points and Celine McIvor (36) also finished with 35 points to claim third spot.
