On 20 minutes Mark Murray scored with Garvey’s first short corner. Unfortunately North replied in kind from their third corner to level the scores. Garvey went ahead again with a good finish from Ryan Getty after some neat interplay by the Garvey midfield and an excellent advantage by umpire Mark Surgeon.

The 2-1 half time lead was well deserved and Garvey got further ahead with another Murray short corner effort to lead 3-1.

North scrambled one back but a well worked short corner between Andy Nye and Stephen Doherty resulted in Doherty flicking in to restore the two goal cushion at 4-2.

When Aaron Martin neatly deflected past the North keeper a 5-2 score left Garvey feeling they had the points in the bag.

North Down had other ideas and stormed back into the game in the last 10 minutes to draw level. Garvey had a one on one with the goalkeeper and several chances to score themselves but couldn’t find the vital touch in the circle to get the result their initial play deserved.

Overall this was a good game that keeps the Fourths undefeated but definitely a chance missed.
