Ballymoney Fourths enjoyed a comprehensive win at home to Larne 3rds. The fourths breezed past their opposition running in 11 tries in this second round McCambley cup fixture.
Ballymoney pressure resulted in Jason Taggart opening the home side’s scoring after five minutes. Taggart picked up from the base of the scrum to touch down in the corner. Larne came back at Ballymoney and built some good phases of play, however determined defence and counter rucking won the ball back for the home side. Darren Smyth got the counter move underway with Neal Johnston touching down for a good team score. Sam McAuley was next on the score sheet showing a good turn of pace, as he side stepped the full back to score under the posts. Ballymoney scored two more tries in the first half, Stuart Nevin and Ryan Brace both touching down, the latter converting three of the tries to leave the half time 31 – 0 to Ballymoney
The second half saw the home side continue their dominance of the game running in six further scores. Timmy Hanna with two, Johnny Linton, Andy Gardner and Ryan Brace getting his second. Outhalf Bracey lofted a perfect kick from just inside the opposition half and outsprinted the Larne defenders to touch down in the corner. Brace also converted three of the second half scores. Ballymoney totally dominated this game and playing excellent running rugby to win 67-0.
