Riada FC hosted the league leaders Coleraine Crusaders in what is usually a very keenly contested fixture and this encounter did not disappoint.
The Crues started the brighter of the two teams and controlled possession and territory for long spells. This pressure paid of when the Crues’ centre half was allowed room to cut inside and unleash an unstoppable effort from 30 yards, Riada did have a couple of efforts in the first half but were unable to get past the Coleraine Crusaders keeper McMullan.
Coleraine continued to press and were awarded a penalty when a Riada player misjudged and pushed a player over in the box. The penalty was calmly converted and the Crues went in at the break two goals to the good.
Riada Manager changed formations at the break and made a couple of substitutions which had an impact on the game, Riada started to come into the game a little and were rewarded when Christie kept the ball in play for Gillan to cross and McAleese to head home. Riada got the next goal when Trafford cut inside and his deflected shot beat McMullan to tie the game at 2-2. Riada got the winner in the end when Christie was fouled in the box and Gillan made no mistake calmly slotting home.
Coleraine Crusaders could still have gotten something from the game but their loss of concentration after the penalty was awarded and their ill discipline left them with no chance.
Further cards were shown after the final whistle and the clamp down on dissent will continue.
