Hunter happy to help Caring Caretaker

The former Northern Ireland international, who now works as a scout for Manchester City, last week presented Coleraine’s Caring Caretaker Davy Boyle with a signed Manchester City shirt to auction for his charities.

Despite being an avid Liverpool fan Davy was delighted with the surprise, which has been signed by City stars like Carlos Tevez, Mario Ballotelli and Joe Hart.

Speaking to Times Sport last week on a visit home, Barry, who is European Regional Scouting Manager at City said he was delighted to be able to help.

“Tommy Doherty contacted me to tell me about Davy and the work he does for charity.

“When I found out that he was raising money to have defibrillators at all local football grounds I knew I had to help out. This is something that is very important, they are life saving pieces of equipment.

“At Manchester City we raise money for a lot of charities, but it was good to be able to help Davy, he does great work for many great causes.

Davy was truly humbled by Barry’s donation.

“I know Barry’s father Victor well, but I had never met Barry. He is a gentleman and I can’t thank him enough for the donation.”

Davy will auction the shirt for his charities which are: Chest Heart and Stroke, Ulster Cancer Foundation, NI Children to Lapland Trust, Community Rescue Service, Spina Bifita, Friends of Willowbrook, The Blind Centre, Callum’s Chance of Sight and Defibrillators at the Heart of Every Game.

“So far I have received two bids, for one pence and ten pence from Manchester United fans,” joked Davy. “No joke aside I have put a reserve price of £500 on the shirt,” he added.
