Boss swoops for Rec quartet

Larne boss Graham McConnell swooped for four new faces before Championship transfer window slammed shut at midnight on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Aaron Kerr, the Black brothers, Ross and Aaron, and Gareth McConnell have all joined the Inver Park outfit from Amateur League side, Wellington Rec.

James Moore, William Magill, Daryll Kernohan and Gary Workman have left for Donegal Celtic, Larne Tech, Ards Rangers and Islandmagee, respectively.

McConnell is pleased with his transfer dealings with the quartet coming in to strengthen the squad.

He said: “Aaron Kerr, ex-Ballymena United and Crusaders, has joined us as back-up to Chris Keenan, and with his Premiership experience he will be pushing for the jersey.

“Ross and Aaron (Black) are back at Inver Park. Aaron was an Irish Cup winner with Crusaders and Ross was a CIS Cup winner with Newry City, or reached the final at least.

“And Gareth McConnell, who won an Intermediate Cup medal with Knockbreda, has signed for us as well. All four of them had been at Wellington Rec.

“Departing are Daryl Kernohan, who now away to Ards Rangers, William Magill who has moved to Larne Tech, James Moore who is now with Donegal Celtic and Gary Workman who joined Islandmagee.”
