Annagh bring Dollingstown run to an abrupt end

Annagh were one nil up direct from the kick-off when a short back pass from Marty Hughes was pounced upon by the brilliant Scott McCordick who chipped the keeper beautifully.

Dollingstown’s first attempt on goal came on 13 minutes when a great through ball from Hughes was fired wide by Ritchie Thompson when he really should at least have worked the keeper.

Five minutes later McCordick showed the gulf in class when from out on the right he walked past three defenders to bury the ball in the bottom corner. Annagh created more chances with Philip Craig hitting the bar and Campbell firing wide.

Adam Walker had two glorious chances to get Dollingstown back in the game but simply lacked the necessary determination at this level that is needed to convert these chances when they come.

In the second half there was little in the game until a calamitous ten minute spell for Dollingstown as Annagh simply wrapped up the game. First McCordick completed a superb hat-trick when he fired home from the edge of the area.

This was ten followed by three penalties within nine minutes for Annagh which leading scorer Shay Campbell converted two of them. Dollingstown pulled a late consolation goal back on 77 minutes through leading scorer Thompson but too little too late. This was a very inept performance by Dollingstown who seem to have accepted the season is over but hopefully this will only act as a catalyst for manager Gary Duke to look more closely at his rebuilding plans for next season in which four teams will be relegated

from senior football.
