Finn’s trio retain Ivor Glenn Cup

As always there was a great turn-out on the night with 27 teams entering the competition.

The format for this was best of 3 x 701 with each player throwing in turn and as always the format proved difficult for many players with several of the favourites going out in the first round.

The final was contested by the Bertha’s trio of David Finlay, Ian Patterson and Eamon Guyler who had come back from a leg down in the semi-final to beat Damian Norton, Davy Toner and Alan McVicker.

Their opponents were last year’s winners, Jimmy Elliott and Mervyn Greer who were playing along with Ricky McMullan this year.

They previously had also come back from a leg down in their semi-final to defeat the Floyds trio of William McKendry, John Evangelista and Stephen McCarron.

The final was a real nail-biter with some super darts been thrown, Ian Patterson missed double 18 in the 1st leg for a 129 checkout before the Berthas team eventually took the leg.

Finn McCools hit back in the second, after starting the leg with scores of 140, 100, 140, they went on to win the leg and level the game.

The deciding leg was full of drama, with both teams blowing hot and cold it all came down to that crucial double which neither team seemed to want to hit.

In the end it was the Finns team who hit it to retain the title and round of an excellent night of darts.

The League and Bertha’s Bar would like to thank all those who took part and supported the competition, over £350 was raised on the night and as always all proceeds of this competition will be donated to a charity choosen by the family of Ivor Glenn.
