Danny was regarded as a key player for Carey during his playing career, often being the man who provided the inspiration when the game was going away from them.

His skill, leadership and refusal to give up were a constant source of strength to players and supporters alike.

When Danny’s playing days were over he continued to show a strong interest in the club, attending matches and becoming a member of the committee.

When his children came along, Danny began mentoring underage teams with Glenshesk and also joined the committee to assist the development of the club. His love for all things GAA was evident to anyone who ever spoke with him and he always had the best interests of the club close to his heart.

The very large turnout for his funeral was a clear sign of the esteem in which he was held by the club, local community and Gaels in N Antrim. He will be missed by all who knew him, particularly by his wife Veronica, children Meabh, Conleth and Eoin and family circle.

The bright light of heaven to you Danny boy!
