Brickkiln Spring League heats up

THE qualifying stage of the Brickkiln Spring League at Foyle has come to a conclusion after 10 cards with the top 8 leading Teams coming through to compete in the Match Play after a very competitive qualifying section of the League with just 12 points separating 1st and 8th with a further three teams two points further adrift.

Team 20 consisting of Declan McKinney, Ruairi O'Connor, Brian O'Neill and Steafan McKinney came through in the last few cards to top the qualifying with an excellent total of 608 points for their six best cards, and will enter the Match play as very strong favourites but with eight very capable teams set to compete for this very coveted title it should make for some excellent matches.

In second place was Team 16 of John McDowell, Paddy Coyle, David Knox and Stuart Gauld after they scored 603 points, on 601 points in third spot were Team 6 of Liam McCafferty, Paul McIntyre, Jarlath Clarke and Richard Burton.

The draw for the match play quarter-final is as follows and must be played on or before this Sunday.

Declan McKinney, Ruairi O'Connor, Brian O'Neill and Steafan McKinney face Maurice Temple, Jim McGrotty, John J Logue and John Coyle; Leo Young, Matt Donnell, Paul McLaughlin and Emmett McNally play Colm Norris, Damien Kivelehan, Gavin McDonnell and Danny McCay.

Liam McCafferty, Paul McIntyre, Jarlath Clarke and Richard Burton take on Cecil Thompson, Hugh Doherty, Gerry Breslin and Paul Hegarty; Andrew Temple, John Hasson, Mark Doherty and Kevin Dunn versus John McDowell, Paddy Coyle, David Knox and Stuart Gauld.

The final Easter Egg Competition went to Kenneth Hughes (19) after he scored 25 points, while the Easter Hamper competitions on Wednesday, March 31 went to Anthony McMonagle (18) after scoring 38 points, second spot after a break of tie finish was Bobby Boyle (16) with 37 points.

The Easter Hamper competition on Saturday, April 3, went to Sean Rankin (22) after he scored 41 points, second place again after a BOT finish went to Paul Godfrey (20) when he scored 40 points, third spot was claimed by Jim McFadden (10) also scored 40 points and Lawrence Powell (26) with 48 points claimed the Juvenile section.

There will be a Prize Presentation in the Club House tomorrow (Thursday) at 7.30pm for all the Prize winners in the Easter Hamper and Easter Egg competitions, prize winners are asked to attend or send a deputy.

Today (Wednesday) sees the Crumley Construction Monthly Medal take place, on Saturday the PGA Pro/Am Qualifier takes place, with the winner travelling with Club Professional to Heritage Golf Club to compete in Area Finals. While on Sunday another Crumley Construction Monthly Medal competition takes place.
