Bann U17s secure play-off final place

BANN played host to Instonians in the semi-final of the U17 league play offs on Saturday and ran out 33-0 winners.

The first 20 minutes were hard fought, with neither team getting the upperhand but Bann had the better scrum and lineout. Posession from one of these lineouts led to the first try when the backs moved the ball quickly to centre Ben Cross who dummied his opposite number and touched down. Macauley Lyttle added a difficult conversion. B

ann kept up the pressure and played well against the wind, running the ball at every opportunity. They were rewarded with another Cross try to leave the first half score 12-0.

Bann had the wind advantage after the turnaround and kept Instonians pinned in their own half for long periods. Adam Sterling finnished well for the third home try after slick handling by the backs. Lyttle again added the conversion.

Two more tries were to follow for the hard working pack, the first from Nathan Connery and the second from Adam Copes. Lyttle kicked both conversions.

This was a good display from Bann and a fine team performance from all 17 players involved. The U17’s are now in the league playoff final against Portadown, a just reward for their hard work this season.
