Ballymoney’s Second XI and Dalriada
On Saturday Ballymoney’s Second XI fell to their heaviest defeat of the season, losing 8-1 to a strong experienced North Down team.
Ballymoney never got out of their own half for the majority of the first half. North Down was far too strong for the inexperienced youthful Ballymoney side. They were 5 - 0 down going into half time.
An encouraging and supportive talk from Diane Kirgan at half time lifted the girls for a brief spell, unfortunately things went from bad to worse as Aimee McCaw and Sarah Jamison had to leave the pitch for a period of time leaving Ballymoney with nine players.
North Down used this to their advantage slotting home three more goals in quick succession.
However the commitment and passion the young inexperienced team showed cannot be faulted as they ran their legs off. They got a consolation goal through Lauren Henry leaving the score 8-1 at the final whistle.
Fixtures for Saturday: 1st XI Home VS Harlequins 2:30pm, 2nd XI Away VS Harlequins, 3rd XI Away VS Annadale.

The U13 had an encouraging start to the season against Omagh Academy. Omagh quickly established themselves in the game and rushed into a three goal lead. After a quick regroup and great leadership by captain Holly Barr, the back row were able to put the pressure onto Omagh. Unfortunately the girls couldn’t convert their chances this time with the score ending 3-0, but can take a lot of positives from their performance.
