Participants completed a 1.5km swim in the sea before changing to the 40km cycle course and finishing with a 10km run.
Sponsors of the event, North Coast Leisure Ltd, opened its doors in June 2011 and is a family run business just outside of Portrush.
It is the vision of local Dunluce teacher and outdoor sports enthusiast Stephen McKenzie.
“We are delighted to sponsor this major athletic event that celebrates the highest level of athletic endurance,” he said.
“We, as a cycling and outdoor pursuits store, feel very passionate about sporting activity in the area and this is an excellent opportunity for us to support up and coming sporting talent and encourage healthy and active lifestyles on our doorstep.”
Adam Wilson, local Physiotherapist and Event Director, said: “The Triangle Triathlon Club in conjunction with North Coast Leisure are very excited about hosting this outstanding event on the North Coast.
“Portrush and the surrounding area provides an ideal location with its stunning beaches and testing cycling and running terrain which will push the athletes to their absolute limit and beyond!
“It is always a fantastic atmosphere with hundreds of athletes and their families down for the weekend and with Alan Simpson from Radio Ulster in the commentary box, there will be plenty of craic.
“Seeing over 200 athletes race run into the water at the start of the race is quite a spectacle, so come on down and support this exciting local event.”
