Ballymoney Cycling Club forms new women's team

Ballymoney Cycling Club are forever growing and developing with the girls not being outdone by the boys.

A women’s team has been formed with Claire McAvoy and Janine Gordon, both usually take part in duathlons and triathlons, on board to race in the national open races.

The team of Sonia Knox, Nadine McCandless, Deirdre Logan, Arlene Doherty, Norma Snelling and Rhona Laverty will be looking to take part in local and national races.

This is where the girls will face the rest of the province’s best women riders. On Sunday at Newry, both girls were able to race with the best and fulfilled their objectives by finishing comfortably in the bunch, just behind the winner and in front of other experienced racers. The girls will be looking to race in the TT races as well as the open races and also be challenging for championship medals in the team time trial championships as well as the season long Time Trial best all rounder competition about to be launched here in Ulster.
