Popular low fat ice cream recalled from supermarkets over allergy risk

A low fat ice cream popular with dieters has been recalled after it was revealed that an undeclared ingredient could be potentially harmful to those with allergies.

The Halo Top Mint Chip Ice Cream and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream were both found to contain chocolate chips with soya which is not listed on the label - an ingredient potentially harmful to those with soy allergies.

Halo Top, a high-protein, low-calorie ice cream, is popular with dieters on the Slimming World and Weight Watchers diet programmes.

The Food Standards Agency has now listed the full product details of all ice creams to be recalled.

The Halo Top Mint Chip Ice Cream (473ml) batches affected are: batch code 7324 (best before 14 January 2019), batch code 7352 (best before 11 February 2019), batch code 8008 (best before 4 March 2019), batch code 8017 (best before 13 March 2019), batch code 8026 (22 March 2019), batch code 8050 (best before 15 April 2019).

The Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream (473ml) batches affected are: batch code 7325 (best before 15 January 2019), batch code 7354 (best before 13 February 2019), batch code 8012 (best before 8 March 2019), batch code 8022 (best before 18 March 2019), batch code 8059 (24 April 2019), batch code 8060 (best before 25 April 2019) and batch code 8072 (best before 7 May 2019).

The Food Standards Agency said: “If you have bought any of the above products and have an allergy to soya do not eat them. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
