Two North Antrim villages have been working together on a Memory Cafe project.

The most recent was held at Derrykeighan Community Hall with the theme being the centenary of World War One.

Coast in partnership with Dervock and Derrykeighan conducted a Memory Café to illustrate the impact of the war on local North Antrim villages with great emphasis placed on the experiences and memories of local people.

Davey Gourley from the Ulster Covenant & Historical Society gave a talk describing how citizens from a small rural village had fought in various battles in the First World War, referencing the story of Pte John Meeke (MM), and local historian Alex Blair provided numerous local stories of the impact of WW1 had particularly the townland of Benvardin and Derrykeighan.

Dervock & District Community Association have recently been successful in acquiring funding from Ballymoney Borough Council (WWI) Legacy Programme. They would really appreciate community participation in gathering memorabilia, photos or any other historical materials.
