Voluntary groups attend fair

OVER 60 voluntary and community groups representatives from across the borough attended a 'Funders Fair' at Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre.

The fair was aimed at helping groups get the most out of vital funding available to them.

Organised by Craigavon Borough Council’s Development Department, the free event provided local voluntary and community groups with an opportunity to speak directly to a wide range of funders which included Lloyds TSB, Community Foundation for Northern Ireland and Arts Council NI and gather key information on funds available to them.

The event offered representatives the opportunity to ask questions directly to the funders themselves, gain a greater understanding of grant criteria and secure copies of a newsletter developed by the council’s Development department which provides key information and details on a wide range of funding organisations and opportunities.

Councillor Brian McKeown, vice chair of the Development Committee, said: “Voluntary and community groups are central to our community and provide an invaluable service to a wide range of residents both young and old.”

Information regarding funding opportunities available directly through council including good relations, arts development and craigavon sports advisory council were also showcased at the event. For further information contact 3831 2483 or email [email protected]
