This work is part of a wider scheme to modernise the rail signalling systems in order to maintain high safety standards and ensure the safe running of local train services, as well as to minimise the need for long-term maintenance.

Night works will commence during week commencing Monday, March 1, continuing until late June. There will be no disruption to train services as a result of the works.

“We will also be introducing noise mitigation measures to further reduce any impact on our neighbours. Contractor access will be via the Translink facility at Fortwilliam and at Quay Road in Newtownabbey.

Work will also be carried out according to the latest government and industry advice on social distancing to ensure the safety of the works team and the wider community.

“Translink is grateful to the local community for their patience and co-operation as we work to complete these essential works to deliver a better rail service for all.”
