Three decades with the Christian ministry
A special night was held in Hebron Free Presbyterian Church, Ballymoney, on Sunday, May 29 to celebrate their minister's 30 years in the Christian ministry.
Rev. David Park was ordained on Wednesday, May 7 1986 in Bethany Free Presbyterian Church Portadown, and installed on Friday, May 16 1986 in Oulton Broad Free Presbyterian Church, England, where he served the Lord for almost four years.
He was then called to Portavogie Free Presbyterian Church where he laboured for seven years. He began his ministry in Ballymoney almost 20 years ago on 5th December 1996.
Addressing the congregation, he said: “Together we have seen the work grow, many souls converted, believers established in the faith, and these buildings erected to the glory of God.”
He thanked the Session and Congregation for their support and encouragement, especially those who have prayed for him. Among those whom he thanked personally, who were in attendance and had been a great influence in his life, were Dr. Alan Cairns (former minister of the congregation) and Dr. Bill Woods (veteran missionary of 54 years in Brazil). Rev. Park paid special tribute to his family for their support, prayers and encouragement, especially to his wife, Susan, and children. He also paid special tribute to Mr. John Currie, one of the elders, who, despite his illness, has been an inspiration and example to him.
He said: “‘If God has been pleased to use me in some small way in His work, I am honoured,’ and gave Him the praise and glory for all that has been accomplished. Quoting the Apostle Paul, he testified, ‘Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day.”
