Thirteen jobs created as Lidl opens its ‘ultra-modern’ Lisburn store

The controversial Lidl store opened its new store in Lisburn at 8am on Thursday, September 25 creating 13 new staff.

This latest opening will bring the total number of Lidl stores in Northern Ireland to 37.

The new store represents a new look, ultra modern design, which aims to further enhance the shopping experience for the customer.

It also boasts an innovative baking facility that will be turning out delicious affordable artisan breads from the minute the store opens until it closes at night time.

Already 13 new staff have been employed from the locality to service the new store.

Barry McConville, Store Manager for the new Lisburn store said, “I am really looking forward to welcoming all of the Lisburn residents to our new store.

“We have some fantastic items on special offer over the next few days.

“We are also delighted to have the Mayor of Lisburn and rugby star Stephan Ferris opening the store.”

Lidl Northern Ireland is committed to working with more than 35 local suppliers from right across Northern Ireland, many of them household names such as Linden Foods, Moy Park and Dunbia.

Mr McConville said Lidl was proud to have worked closely with Northern Irish suppliers for 15 years.

Locally sourced products include beef, chicken, pork, milk, eggs, breads and cheeses, as well as seasonal fresh vegetables and fruit which are stocked in each of Lidl’s 37 stores in the province.

In addition, this produce from Northern Ireland is available in all of Lidl’s 141 stores in the Republic of Ireland.

Some 47% (and rising) of all grocery sales in Lidl’s stores across Ireland are generated from products sourced from Irish and Northern Irish suppliers, producers and manufacturers.

A significant proportion of their top-selling Irish product lines come from their fresh meat category.Lidl Northern Ireland iscommitted to the charity Cancer Focus. The discount retailer hasbeen supporting the fantastic work of Cancer Focus for over 7 years now and says it is delighted to be involved with such an amazing charity.
