Third of Victoria and Diamond pupils go to Grammar schools
The two wards are amongst a number located in Londonderry which are ranked amongst the 10 per cent most deprived wards in the whole of Northern Ireland.
According to Education Minister John O’Dowd 35 per cent of post-primary children from the Victoria ward attend Grammar Schools.

Hide AdThe equivalent figure for the Diamond area is 30.1 per cent.
Other areas in the city in the 10 per cent most deprived category include Brandywell (26.5 per cent of post-primary children); Creggan Central (23.2 per cent), Creggan South (23.2 per cent), Strand (34.4 per cent), Shantallow East (238.8 per cent) and Shantallow West (36.6 per cent).
The Minister outlined the figures in response to an Assembly Question.
He advised the deprivation ranking of wards was based on the Multiple Deprivation Measure rankings outlined in the Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure 2010 report published in May 2010.
