Dominican College celebrated National Poetry Day by welcoming poet Jim McCool to the school.
Jim, from the Performance Poetry Society, came to school on Tuesday 11th October to perform for Years 8 and 9.
Mr MacCool, a poet in the Shanachie (travelling bard) tradition, is the leading exponent of Dramatic Poems in Britain.
His Ionan Tales were premiered at the Sunday Times Literary Festival for the Millennium and he had been touring across the country ever since.
His shows typically combine his singing of Irish or Scots folk ballads, a poetic recitation and a Celtic drum performance.
This event provided an excellent example for English and Preforming Arts students in Dominican College.
It was a successful and interactive event enjoyed by all the pupils, many of whom will be inspired in their own creative writing.
