Take advantage of respiratory advice at Breathe Easy

Mrs Nessie Blair, MBE, Service Development Manager for the British Lung Foundation Northern Ireland, has urged people to take advantage of the expert respiratory advice being offered as part of the Breathe Easy Awareness Week, which runs from June 16-20.

Praising Breathe Easy Causeway for its initiative in organising awareness clinics at selected venues throughout the Causeway area, Mrs Blair said: “Coming along to the Breathe Easy awareness stand and meeting other people affected by lung disease will be instructive and really helpful. Groups like Breathe Easy Causeway represent an invaluable pillar of support, providing not only compassion and understanding.

“But advice and encouragement that can really help improve their health and quality of life.”

The theme of this year’s Breathe Easy Week is “Breathlessness and Early Diagnosis”, and Mrs Blair added: “While many people consider breathlessness as a sign of getting old or being unfit, it is one of the most common signs of lung disease. If you are feeling breathless when you wouldn’t expect to be, it is worth seeing your GP to help catch any problems early on.”

The clinics at which respiratory specialist, Carole McGrath, will be on hand to give advice to those who wish it will take place as follows:

June 18, Asda, Coleraine – 7pm – 9pm;

June 19, Gordon’s Pharmacy, Bushmills – 10.30am – 12noon;

June 20, Campbell’s Pharmacy, 8-9 Dunluce Street, Portrush – 10.30 am – 12noon.
