St Killian’s rebuild will ‘benefit the whole community’

As reported in the Larne Times last week, St Killian’s is one of 15 schools to benefit from the Department of Education funding for new build projects.

Principal Jonny Brady said: “This is another great news story for the college which is continuing to develop both in reputation and in student numbers. Obviously this investment echoes this growth. There is no doubt that the additional investment will make the college the most modern school in the area as well as the most stylish.”

Mr Brady added that the grant was in recognition of the school’s “high quality of learning and teaching”, which he said was endorsed in a recent inspection report.

“The new build will ensure that all students will receive a first class education long into the future,” he said.

“This significant investment reinforces both the commitment and high priority that both the Trustees and the Department of Education have placed in St Killian’s in ensuring it remains the flagship school for all ability Catholic education. There is no doubt that these new and modern facilities will benefit the whole community and cement further the already strong links established with the college.”

A parent of three children who attend St Killian’s said: “This is a fantastic boost for the whole school community and the enhancement of the facilities will reinforce the excellent opportunities that the school already offers to children of all abilities.”
